Achieve a More Youthful Appearance with a Mini Facelift By Dr. William Cohen on November 13, 2013

Orange County Mini Facelift TechniqueDo you ever hold your skin taught against your face with your hands and wish that it would remain that way? Unfortunately, as we age, skin begins to lose its elasticity in the lower part of the face and neck.

The mini facelift is the ideal solution for Orange County men and women who are just beginning to witness these signs of aging. Since these telltale symptoms of aging will only continue, it is wise to act when the first signs of sagging or loose skin being to appear. An ideal solution for these sagging skin woes is the mini facelift technique, which uses small incisions and a less invasive technique than the traditional facelift procedure.

What Is a Mini Facelift?

The mini facelift technique is comparable to the Lifestyle Lift, S Lift, or the Quick Lift and is extremely similar to the traditional full facelift.

The main difference is that a mini facelift is not as invasive or as expensive as the traditional facelift. Additionally, the procedure uses smaller incisions and smaller stitches in order to minimize the appearance of scarring.

The Mini Facelift Technique

The mini facelift procedure is performed under local anesthesia and takes a little over an hour to complete. In addition to the local anesthesia, your plastic surgeon will give you a sedative to help make you drowsy. You will be awake throughout the procedure yet completely relaxed. While you may occasionally feel some sensations of pulling or tugging and mild pressure, you will not feel any pain.

During the mini facelift procedure, your plastic surgeon will make short incisions near each of your ears, which will allow your doctor to re-suspend the tissues that are located directly under your skin. Your cosmetic surgeon will then remove any excess skin that is present and re-drape the skin in order to smooth any wrinkles that are present and to also help redefine your jawline. The result that is achieved is a young and fresh looking face.

Each surgeon is unique and will therefore perform the surgery in a slightly different manner. There are some that will complete the procedure on one side of your face at a time, while other surgeons opt to move from side to side. The placement of the incisions and the event sequence will be dependent on your facial structure as well as your plastic surgeon’s preferences. You should discuss the technique that will be used so that you will know what to expect during each step of the procedure.

You will be able to resume your regular, day-to-day activities within three to five days following the procedure. With the mini facelift, swelling and bruising is typically minimal, especially in comparison to the traditional facelift procedure.
