Turn Back Time With Facelift Surgery

Wrinkles and loose skin can be the result of sun exposure, aging, stress, gravity, and weight loss. A facelift is a cosmetic surgery that can effectively provide facial rejuvenation by tightening the skin and muscles of the face. Also known as a rhytidectomy, facelift surgery can provide more permanent and drastic results than nonsurgical options such as BOTOX® Cosmetic and dermal fillers.

Your Facelift, Your Way Traditional Facelifts and Mini Facelifts in Orange
Traditional Facelift
A traditional facelift is a type of plastic surgery that focuses on the mid and bottom portions of the face and the neck area. A facelift procedure is usually done under general anesthesia, meaning you are unconscious during the surgery. Your plastic surgeon can tighten loose, sagging skin and muscles and contour your face. Because this surgery is more involved than a mini facelift and requires general anesthesia, patients often require a longer recovery time.
Mini Facelift
A mini facelift addresses issues in the lower portions of the face and upper neck. Dr. Cohen was the first plastic surgeon in Orange, CA, to perform an office-based mini facelift. This minimally invasive procedure takes just one to two hours and involves lifting the soft tissue layers of the face. Patients are given local anesthesia and sometimes a mild sedative. Patients can generally return to normal activities after approximately one week.

The Traditional Facelift Timeline Your Path to a Fully Refreshed Look
Facelifts are often combined with other procedures, such as a neck lift, brow lift, or eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty) in our Orange, CA, operating room. This is based on your unique cosmetic goals and budget. During your initial consultation, Dr. Cohen will develop a custom treatment plan. Your procedure will involve several steps:
The ultimate goal of facelift surgery is to give patients a more youthful appearance.
What to Expect During Recovery
Recovery is different for each person, but there are some things you should keep in mind:
Pain Management
Some swelling, bruising, and discomfort are to be expected. The use of ice and over-the-counter pain medications is recommended to minimize and alleviate these symptoms. Your Orange plastic surgeon may prescribe you pain medication if needed.
Rest
Get plenty of rest during the first 48 hours following surgery. You can begin light exercises like walking and stretching after about two weeks. A normal workout routine can be adopted after about five weeks, but heavy lifting and long runs are still not recommended. Patients can typically return to work in about a week.
Follow-Up Visits
Stitches will be removed at our practice serving Placentia and Orange, CA, after about five to seven days. You may have a follow-up appointment around the 4-week mark. It is important to attend all follow-ups so Dr. Cohen can ensure you are healing properly.
If you experience significant pain, swelling, or other uncomfortable symptoms, please call us immediately. For other questions, feel free to call or:
