Setting up your plastic surgery recovery area is one important thing that you can do to help you feel more comfortable after surgery. The main goal of preparation before returning home from surgery is to ensure that you do not need to make extra trips outside the house for at least a few days.

Here, we review how to prepare your recovery area, including what items you may want to purchase before you undergo your facial plastic surgery procedure.

A Clean and Comfortable Space

The purpose of your recovery area is to provide a peaceful space to rest while you heal. Your bedroom is one obvious option.

In the days before your facial cosmetic procedure, make sure to clean your sheets, comforter, and towels. Having a fresh and clean linens will make you feel better, and can reduce the risk of infection.

You will also want to be sure to have clean and comfortable clothes to wear during your recovery. Robes, pajama pants, and loose clothing are ideal.

In addition, you will want to complete any chores before you undergo surgery. You may also want to plan ahead so you know who will walk the dogs, clean the house, and prepare meals during your initial healing period.

Plan Your Meals Ahead of Time

Prior to your surgery date, it is a good idea to stock your home with healthy, pre-made or easy to prepare meals. Try to go with low-sodium options, which will help limit inflammation after surgery.

As always, you should eat lean proteins, leafy greens, whole grains, and other healthy foods. In addition, drink plenty of water.

Medical Supplies

You don’t want to have to go to the drugstore or wait for your online order delivery during your healing period, so have these items on hand ahead of time:

Entertainment

Boredom should be the least of your problems during your healing period. Taking a week to catch up on books and movies is a great way to pass the time while you make a healthy recovery. Be sure to have movies, TV shows, books, games, and magazines available in your recovery area.

Remember, the goal of your recovery area is to make your healing period quicker, easier, and more comfortable.
